* Get rid of open_darwin
It just lead to code duplication for a simple one string change.
Instead we query it during initialization
* Accept user provided arguments
"open" on MacOS accepts things like -A to use a specific application
Pass trough arguments the user provided in order to facilitate this
* Refactor the function to a struct
This makes it more convenient for the caller and avoids signatures like
lib.OpenFile(nil, u.String(), nil) which are fairly unreadable
The `pin-tab` and `unpin-tab` global commands were added in 3156d48
but were not previously documented. This documents them in aerc.1.
I added them with the other tab commands, which appeared to be grouped
as a logical unit.
Allow styles to be layered over a base style. The list of styles to
apply is layered over the base style in order, such that if the layer
does not differ from the base it is not used. The order that these
styles are applied in is, from first to last:
msglist_default
msglist_unread
msglist_read (exclusive with unread, so technically the same level)
msglist_flagged
msglist_deleted
msglist_marked
So, msglist_marked style dominates.
This fixes an issue where the msglist_deleted style was not being applied.
The `:rmdir` command removes the current directory (`-f` is required if
the directory is not empty).
This is not supported on the notmuch backend.
An issue with the maildir backend is that some sync programs (e.g.
offlineimap) may recover the directory after it is deleted. They need
to specifically be configured to accept deletions, or special commands
need to be executed (e.g. `offlineimap --delete-folder`) to properly
delete folders.
A danger of using this on the IMAP backend is that it is possible for a
new message to be added to the directory and for aerc to not show it
immediately (due to a slow connection) - using `:rmdir` at this moment
(with `-f` if the directory already contains messages) would delete the
directory and the new message that just arrived (and all other
contents). This is documented in aerc(1) so that users are aware of
possible risks.
Introduce the ability to configure stylesets, allowing customization of
aerc's look (color scheme, font weight, etc). Default styleset is
installed to /path/to/aerc/stylesets/default.

Provide search and filter with the option to specify more flag based
conditions.
Use '-x <flag>' to search for messages with a flag (seen, answered,
flagged) and '-X <flag>' to search for messages without a flag.
More mail flags can now be set, unset, and toggled, not just the
read/seen flag.
This functionality is implemented with a new `:flag` and `:unflag`
command, which are extensions to the matching `:read` and `:unread`
commands, adding support for different flags. In fact, the
`read`/`unread` commands are now recognized aliases to `flag`/`unflag`.
The new commands are also well documented in aerc(1).
The change mostly extends the previous read/unread setting functionality
by adding a selection for the flag to change.
Added a 'folders-exclude' option that allows removing selected folders
from the directory list sidebar. My motivating example was that removing
a single folder from the list using Golang regexes seemed pretty hard,
so this is a better way to do it. The excluded folders list is included
in the man page.
The following functionalities are added to configure aerc ui styles.
- Read stylesets from file with very basic fnmatch wildcard matching
- Add default styleset
- Support different stylesets as part of UiConfig allowing contextual
styles.
- Move widgets/ui elements to use the stylesets.
- Add configuration manual for the styleset
This command uses the Postpone folder from the account config to save
messages to. Messages are saved as though they were sent so have a valid
'to' recipient address and should be able to be read back in for later
editing.
This adds the commands pin-tab and unpin-tab. Once pinned a tab lives on
the left of the tabstrip and has a configurable marker, defaulting to `
before its name.
+ Adds parsing of contextual ui sections to aerc config.
+ Add GetUiConfig method for AercConfig that is used to get the
specialized UI config.
+ Add UiConfig method to AccountView to get specialized UI Config.
+ Modifies Aerc codebase to use specialized UIConfig instead.
+ Adds documentation for Contextual UI Configuration
Before, while the docs stated that template-dirs was a colon-separated
list, a delimiter was not specified in the struct tag, so it was falling
back to the default for the ini library (a comma). Also added a note to
the docs to clarify that templates are configured in the [templates]
section.
The functionality was broken since the decoding changes.
This commit also simplifies the code (in my view) to make the application logic
easier to follow.
The docs are updated accordingly (the feature was poorly documented).
As far as I am aware there should be no breaking changes (and is certainly
still in the spec of the prior documentation)
Note that, until we get color configuration, this means that the user *must*
have the %Z verb in the index format else it'll be horribly confusing
as no visual indication is provided
Rather than showing completions inline in the text input, show them in a
popover which can be scrolled by repeatedly pressing the tab key. The
selected completion can be executed by pressing enter.
A new config options for accounts.conf (folders-sort) was added to
allow a user to choose which folders should be shown on top.
My use case was to avoid stepping into heavy, but rarely viewed folders
when cycling through other often accessed ones.
To test add this to your account.conf:
folders-sort = INBOX,Sent,Archive
INBOX, Sent and Archive should then show at the top of your dirlist,
and all other folders should come next in alphabetical order.
+ Changes NewComposer to return error.
+ Add lib to handle templates using "text/template".
+ Add -T option to following commands
- compose.
- reply
- forward
+ Quoted replies using templates.
+ Forwards as body using templates
+ Default templates are installed similar to filters.
+ Templates Config in aerc.conf.
- Required templates are parsed while loading config.
+ Add aerc-templates.7 manual for using template data.
This changes the search flags for maildir and imap backends.
They now no longer use -t for searching all text. This seems to make
more sense as being the targeted recipient. I have similarly added Cc
for -c. The text search now resides under -a for all text.
This adds the ability for per-account signatures in the accounts.conf
config file. The signature is added to emails in the editor at the
bottom of the email. This includes when forwarding, replying to, and
composing emails.
There are two config options: signature-file and signature-cmd. The
former allows a signature to be read from a file and the latter allows
an arbitrary command to be executed to return the signature.
The config options have been documented in aerc-config
Add an onUpdateDirs handler. This is used to invalidate the dirlist and
redraw with the correct number of recent/unread/total messages is shown.
A config option and formatting options are provided.
Allows to set `ui.spinner=` to a string which is then split by
`ui.spinner-delimiter=` (Default: comma) instead of having a hard coded
animation.
This implementation doesn't use INIs capabilities to split strings as
it trims whitespaces breaking the default animation.

Usage:
:prompt <prompt> <command...>
Displays the prompt on the status bar, waits for user input, then
appends that input as the last argument to the command and executes it.
The input is passed as one argument to the command, unless it is empty,
in which case no extra argument is added.
It's nice to be able to filter the folders displayed in the side
bar. Basic string matching can get verbose with enough folders
whitelisted.

Add a "new-message-bell" option to the UI section of aerc.conf. A new
hook into the message store allows the msglist widget to detect new
messages being added to the displayed list. When new messages are
delivered, and the new-message-bell option is enabled (as it is by
default), the terminal will beep.
This allows selection of a tab using its index. It attempts to parse the
given argument as a number, if it fails then it uses it as a name.
Also supports relative indexes using prefixed + or -.
Add a command for removing attachments from a composed message. Syntax
is :detach [path], with path being an optional argument specifying the
path of one existing attachment. If no path is specified, the first
attachment is removed.
Aerc will keep track of the previous 1000 commands, which the user can
cycle through using the arrow keys while in the ex-line. Pressing up
will move backwards in history while pressing down will move forward.
This patch sets up the trigger config section of aerc.conf.
Each trigger has its own function which is called from the place where
it is triggered. Currently only the new-email trigger is implemented.
The triggers make use of format strings. For instance, in the new-email
trigger this allows the user to select the trigger command and also the
information extracted from the command and placed into their command.
To actually execute the trigger commands the keypresses are simulated.
Further triggers can be implemented in the future.
Formatting of the command is moved to a new package.
Allow users to add attachments to emails in the Compose view. Syntax is
:attach <path>, where path is a valid file. Attachments will show up in
the pre-send review screen.
A user may want to be able to see what mimetype they are viewing, so
that they can determine what program it may be opened in or for some
other reason.
The config option is under the [viewer] section and is called
'always-show-mime'. It defaults to false to preserve the current
behaviour.

The unsubscribe command, available when in a message viewer context,
enables users to easily unsubscribe from mailing lists.
When the command is executed, aerc looks for a List-Unsubscribe header
as defined in RFC 2369. If found, aerc will attempt to present the user
with a suitable interface for completing the request. Currently, mailto
and http(s) URLs are supported. In the case of a HTTP(S) URL, aerc will
open the link in a browser. For mailto links, a new composer tab will be
opened with a message filled out according to the URL. The message is
not sent automatically in order to provide the user a chance to review
it first.
Closes#101
Redirecting stdout writes log output to that file, but this wasn't
easily discoverable.
v2 removes changes to aerc-tutorial; I was also on the fence about that,
and agree that it isn't on-topic for the tutorial.

This adds new functionality to :save in the message view for specifying
directories in the path. A new flag, -p, is also added to :save for
automatically creating any directories in the path that do not exist.
If the path ends in a / (e.g. "Downloads/mail/") or if the path is an
existing directory, the part's file name is the filename from the mail
header for the part. Otherwise, it uses the last element in the path as
the filename (e.g. 'blah.jpg' is the filename if the path is
'Downloads/mail/blah.jpg')
Adds an archive command that moves the current message into the folder
specified in the account config entry.
Supports three layouts at this point:
- flat: puts all messages next to each other
- year: creates a folder per year
- month: same as above, plus folders per month
This also adds a "-p" argument to "cp" and "mv" that works like
"--parents" on mkdir(1). We use this to auto-create the directories
for the archive layout.
* :save takes a path and saves the current message part to that location
* :pipe is the same as pipe on the account page, but uses the current
message part rather than the whole email (ie :pipe gzip -d)
* Refactored account:pipe and extracted common pipe code to
commands.util.QuickTerm
* Added helper command aerc.PushError
